P-263 Epidemiology and characteristics of low or normal AFP vs high AFP in hepatocellular carcinoma – retrospective experience in a tertiary care institute

چکیده
Hepatocellular Carcinoma is the 6th common cancer in incidence and 2nd Mortality. It a highly fatal tumour, with most cases detected at late stages. Serum AFP best-described used marker HCC. has been recognized for its usefulness prognosis, relationship to various indices of HCC human biology, use non-biopsy diagnosis, assessment responses therapy. But not all tumors are positive or secrete elevated amounts into serum. In this study we investigated epidemiology, Clinical profile, Frequency associated risk factors, Treatment modality compared characteristics Low Normal vs High carcinoma patients reported our Institution Retrospective study. From Jan 2018 Dec 2022, registered, evaluated treated Stanley Medical College, Chennai, Tamilnadu were studied. Total 220 cares registered which Males sex around 87%. Common >40 years age group, mean 57 years. Alcohol cirrhosis present about 56% cases. About 1/3rd viral aetiology. Around 15% have idiopathic cause. 48% multifocal tumours 40% portal vein thrombosis.16% metastasis more lung. Most stage BCLC C 62%, Child Pugh B 68%. started Sorafenib 78%, Resection 12%, TACE 7%. On Comparison AFP, there no much significant difference correlation. Some small high vice versa. Other like MTD (Maximum tumour Diameter), Multifocality, PV thrombus, Cirrhosis, Hemoglobin, Platelets, Bilirubin Alkaline phosphatase also found be significant. All these different MTD. Those advanced stage. So early screening candidates factors may help diagnosis. For even large low normal AFP. need do other markers PIVKA, DCP (Des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin), EpCAM, Glpican-3 & Hepatic miRs. explore detail so as apply HCCs.

Usefulness of AFP, AFP-L3, and PIVKA-II, and their combinations in diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), Lens culinaris-agglutinin-reactive fraction of AFP (AFP-L3), and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II (PIVKA-II) are widely used as tumor markers for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study compared the diagnostic values of AFP, AFP-L3, and PIVKA-II individually and in combination to find the best biomarker or biomarker panel.Seventy...

This study evaluated the diagnostic value of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), AFP heterogeneity 3 (AFP-L3), Golgi protein 73 (GP73), and sublingual vein parameters in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Levels of serum AFP, AFP-L3, GP73, and sublingual vein scores were measured in 34 patients with chronic hepatitis, 65 patients with post-hepatitis B cirrhosis, 71 patients with HCC, and 6 healthy controls. ...
متن کاملStatus of serum alpha feto-protein (AFP) and midkine (MDK) levels in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is sixth common cancers worldwide and predominant in Asia and Africa. A number of evidence suggests a possible role of midkine (MDK) and α-fetoprotein (AFP) in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and methods: We studied MDK and AFP in patients with HCC or in healthy controls. MDK and AFP was measured by enzyme linked immuno...
متن کاملEvaluation of serum AFP (α-fetoprotein) level in HBsAg carrier patients for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is common all over the world as well as Iran. The incidence of HCC is higher in hepatitis B carriers and it is highly recommended to periodically screen these patients by serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and liver ultrasound (US) every 6 months. We explore the diagnostic accuracy and the performance of (AFP) in cases of hepatitis B carriers as a scree...

BACKGROUND Alpha-fetoprotein (alpha-fetoprotein, AFP) is a Glycoprotein, belonging to the intriguing class of onco-development protein. Generally designated as tumour marker, AFP is recognized as an important blood component, having specific diagnostic utilities Elevation of its level up to pathological range in adults correlate with the appearance of several malignant and chronic conditions, s...
